Data Apparel specialises in ethical clothing that carries visualisation of data about the state of our world. Data Apparel was founded by Dr Alex Rutherford and is inspired by his work as a data scientist at the United Nations and Facebook. He spent a decade using data science to understand ethnic violence, public health and disaster response and has worked in Syria, New York, Abu Dhabi, Jordan and Brazil among others. During this time he learnt the power of data visualisation and graphic design to look beyond the numbers and tell a story.
Data Apparel was founded on ethical principles. The purpose of our products are to make a statement of empathy with vulnerable and disadvantaged populations and to spark a conversation about the state of our world. Our clothing and packaging is responsibly sourced and a proportion of our profits are donated to organisations working hard to protect and support vulnerable people.
